FLORENCE OUTDOORS TOURS

Open-air, hiking, art, sightseeing, archeology, urban life. These are my suggestions for Florence outdoors tours for the ones who don’t want to miss art and history, but at the same time want to enjoy a nice walk outside. A tour of Fiesole, romantic little town at the doors of Florence, is great idea to deepen your knowledge of Florence. A bike tour of Florence is ideal for two-wheels lovers. An excursion to the Medici villas, UNESCO Heritage, is a perfect combination of art and gardens. Not-to-be-missed is a hike to Michelangelo Square with my Contemporary Florence Tour. HIKE AND BIKE IN FLORENCE

On a sunny day what’s better than hike up to Piazzale Michelangelo (Michelangelo square), through the Giardino delle Rose (Rose Garden)? This square  is a breath-taking terrace overlooking Florence. Many locals and tourist go there at sunset time to enjoy a real show, when the last sun light pervades the atmosphere. In the Rose Garden you’ll find many locals reading the newspaper while enjoying the fresh air under the shade of a tree. For bike lovers a funny way to get to know Florence is the bike tour. You’ll pedal through the most scenic streets and squares of the city. You’ll cross the most beautiful bridges learning about the history and the city life. An unforgettable experience!

FLORENCE OUTDOORS TOURS: MEDICI VILLAS AND FIESOLE

When you say Firenze, your mind goes immediately to the Medici family. They had plenty of residences, not only in the city but above all in the country. Some of these villas are museums open to the public and we can see them. They are real hidden gems of Tuscany. Every villa had acres and acres of gardens and land to allow game hunting. The first Italian style garden (formal garden) was the one of Castello Medici Villa, at the doors of Florence. Beautiful gardens are also in Fiesole, a little hill town facing Florence. To get there the best way is public bus, so you’ll also have to test your Italian skills to buy the tickets. Fiesole’s landscape is so poetic: gentle hills, cypress trees, olive trees. We won’t neglect the artistic part. Fiesole is famous for its archeological area and for the Etruscan remains.
